About Our Pastor

Rev Dr. Steven A Peebles was the 4th child born to the union Bennie and Ollie Peebles on November 7, 1969. Dr. Peebles confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev Dr. Earbie Bledsoe Sr in 1974 at the Devotional Baptist Church. Upon Sunday, May 1, 2022, Dr Peebles received and accepted the call to become the third pastor in the history of the Devotional Baptist Church. Devotional was founded by the late Rev Nathaniel Dunn and was followed by Dr. Bledsoe.

Dr. Peebles acknowledged his calling to preach and delivered his first sermon upon March 13, 1994, at the Devotional Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Bledsoe. Dr. Peebles became the Superintendent of Sunday School and presided over the Wednesday night Prayer Band and Bible study. The Devotional church family then called for his ordination upon November 29, 1998.

Dr. Peebles began a mission church, Seven Star Baptist Church on September 29, 1999. In July 2000, Dr. Peebles was invited to be a part of a vision team of the Southern Baptist Convention, which led to a preaching engagement in Senegal, West Africa. Seven Star completed its mission in 2005.

Dr. Peebles is passionate about the fight against breast cancer and became known to the American Cancer Society through his volunteer efforts. He became a charter member of the St Louis Leadership Board of the ACS in 2016, where he served a 3 ½ year term.

Continuing in his effort to serve the community, Dr. Peebles also became a Police Chaplain with the St Louis County PD, where he received his credentials on July 16, 2014. Dr. Peebles is currently an auxiliary Chaplain with the department. Dr. Peebles is also a member of Lone Star Lodge #2 PHA.

A firm believer in education, Dr. Peebles fulfilled a request of Dr. Bledsoe, which was to go to minister’s school by attending the Glad Tiding Bible College of St Louis. Dr. Peebles earned an AA in Biblical Studies and graduated as Salutatorian. Peebles then earned a BA in Systematic Theology, where he graduated as Valedictorian. Dr Peebles followed that by receiving an MTh in Systematic Theology and a PhD in Systematic Theology. Dr Peebles dissertation was entitled, “The Relevant Church.” Another highlight for Dr. Peebles is being published in the 2019 book, “The St Louis Anthology,” where his submission was entitled, “A Kinloch Perspective.” Dr Peebles also served as an Instructor at the GTBC.

Dr. Peebles has been married to Pashan Triplett-Peebles of Holy Springs MS. for 25 years and have 2 children, daughter Jasmine (22) and son Anthony (13). Pashan Triplett-Peebles is the daughter of Rev Dr. Theo V Triplett Sr and Janevial Evans-Triplett, both of Mississippi
